Thanks Ash for the inspiration, I've never tried poetry before and reading yours, i decided to give it a go, but have a slight twist on it and have it reflect my story in Op Dreadnaught. With major and his command of B Troop.
Brother, Stand To
We march where the river chews the stone and the Barrier Mountains keep their counsel. Sand hisses. Snow burns. The wind remembers names.
B Troop moves as one mind in many bodies. Orders are quiet. Obedience is loud. A glance is enough. A nod seals it.
By Claw and Flame we hold the line, at the Gap, at the Green Cleugh, in the dark that blinks. Death waits like a patient scribe, pen poised, but we make him spell our names the hard way.
Command doesn’t sleep, it watches while you do. It’s the name they call when things go wrong. It sleeps…
