Blood Brother.
This is my brother who was there through my youth.
He helped me remove my first wobbly tooth.
Was there through the ups and downs of family life.
Defined brotherhood when troubles were rife.
Had each others backs despite the stresses,
Encouraging each other and celebrating our successes.
When I reached the age of having to face the world on my own,
I knew I would need Brotherhood that was imbedded to the bone.
So I joined The Army, with an elite band of men.
That have become my brothers forged by fire, time and time again.
My brothers in arms and I have faced many situations.
Where watching each others backs is the key to survival in troubled nations.
We have shed blood together, and a few tears,
But there is no replacement for my first brother, my blood brother, who’s been there through the years.
When I look back I wish I had conveyed this message more.
As it’s you that has placed Brotherhood in my soul, my core.
To all of my Brothers around the world, if life is feeling dire,
Just know I love you Brother and all of my Brothers forged by fire.

This reminds me of the dedication in my second book "Ursus" "To Brothers. Some Forged By Blood. Others By Battle." That's a great poem.
