Audiobook
Thought I'd share the process of getting the Audiobook created. I decided early on that I needed to provide the book in all formats. That meant either recording myself reading the story or hiring someone to do it for me. I did a lot of research and decided on Audible and their dedicated platform called ACX. ACX has thousands of voice actors that you can either approach or, as I did, upload a sample of the book and allow them to audition for the part. Much like an actor would for a tv or movie roll. I had certain criteria, had to be English speaking, do a Scottish accent, have a mature voice and be able to pull off a few other UK accents. I had over 100 actors audition for it. As soon as I heard Steve Fortune speak, I knew it had to be him. He's been on TV, movies and stage. He is fantastic at all the different parts and even manages to pull of a Russian/eastern European accent. Once we discussed the roll and price (£1300 for the finished audio) he went to work. We had regular chats and video calls, and he also sent me each chapter to review. It was great fun hearing my story come alive. I've had great feedback from listeners. I just hope he's available to do the next few books.
