Remember

For years I've stayed home on this special Sunday, the last parade I went to was years ago. My medels sit in a box, not forgotten but not worn and not cleaned. I make excuses, I need them mounted and cleaned. To be honest I don't know the real reason, maybe my ptsd has something to do with it.

Today I sit with my family, at a train station on our way to Edinburgh for the remembrance parade. My medals still stay in the box. But I'm wearing my regimental tie and my beret. Maybe next year I'll clean them and wear them again.

You Are Not Forgotten.

We Will Remember Them.

Robin, i don't think you are alone in making excuses, I've been there myself in the past, wanting to hide from the world and feeling the stress of loud crowded places and people wanting to engage in conversation, on a day that makes me emotional, the last thing i want is for people to see my vulnerabilities whilst representing my unit. But at the end of the day we are all human and our past is what makes us.

We Will Remember Them.
